Big Rig Accident Turns into DUI Case

Man Crashes into A Big Rig, Gets Arrested for DUI

According to California Highway Patrol…On Saturday, June 7th a man crashed into a big rig that was flipped over onto its side. The man was arrested afterwards on suspicion of driving under the influence. The accident happened on the eastbound 91 Freeway in Riverside.

The SigAlert stated that there were three lanes that were blocked and that the crash had happened around five:twenty-three in the morning.

According to California Highway Patrol Srgt. Ken Hagerman, the big rig was traveling rather fast and was transitioning from eastbound Highway 60 to northbound 215 Freeway.

Srgt. Hagerman Explained What Happened to the Big Rig

Due to his speed he overturned onto the eastbound 91 … and another Mitsubishi Galant collided into the back of the big rig. The driver of the Mitsubishi was taken into custody for possible DUI violation.

A California Highway Patrol Officer, that did not want to disclose his name, said that the driver was later arrested.

Srgt. Hagerman said that a second person that was driving eastbound on the 91 Freeway then crashed into the bottom of the big rig.

At first the investigating Officers thought that the man had fled the scene, however, thanks to the California Highway Patrol dispatcher, they later figured out that the man had only cleared the roadway and waited for assistance.

Since the big rig had an open trailer, the cleanup took a little longer than usual. The officials were worried that if they moved the big rig that the trailer would come apart.

We’re looking at approximately three to four hours of offloading and putting it onto another big rig before we can upright that trailer.

The California Highway Patrol dispatcher stated that luckily there were no injuries related to the crash. The workers had the road reopened by noon.
