Multiple Injuries Follow a Dump Truck and Minivan Collision

On Friday, June sixth one person tragically died and seven others were injured when a big rig, dump truck, and minivan collided. The collision happened in the McClure Tunnel which is located in Santa Monica. According to the Santa Monica Fire Dept. The one that died was sadly a child. The child’s name and age have not been released as of yet.

According to the report, the collision happened in the eastbound lanes in the McClure Tunnel. This was at 12:37 in the afternoon on Friday. Only one child was declared dead however there were at least eight people that were rushed to the hospital.

California Highway Patrol Officer, Chris Jakubowski talks about the collision.

It appears one of the vehicles didn’t see stopped traffic ahead in the McClure Tunnel, and that was probably the result of this collision. All lanes of the 10 Freeway were closed between Pacific Coast Highway and Lincoln Boulevard. At 2 p.m., eastbound lanes were reopened, but westbound lanes remained closed.

Luckily by six:forty-five in the evening, the McClure Tunnel was all cleared and ready for traffic again. However the authorities kept the tunnel closed for investigation. It was to stayed closed until further noticed.
