Four Dead in Tour Bus Crash

Four Dead and Several Injured in Tour Bus Crash

On May 11 four people has died (two women and two men) in a tour bus crash that happened close to the California/Arizona border.

The men that died was sixty-seven year old Pablo Ramirez and forty-nine year old Angel Hernandez. The women who died were identified as forty-four year old Luz Rivera and thirty year old Jessica Garcia.

According to the report, they died at the scene of the accident, around 2:15 in the morning on a Wednesday. The reason of the crash started when the tour bus had hit the metal pipes that had fallen from a jackknifed truck. The pipes scattered across Interstate 10 which is near the desert town of Blythe.

Next the bus slid down an embankment and overturned. This is when seven people got seriously injured. However, both of the drivers were able to escape without injury.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the pipe filled truck was trying to pass slower vehicles in the 70 mph zone, that is when he accidentally drifted onto the dirt shoulder and then lost control.

According to California Highway Patrol Lt. Cmdr. Gustavo Guzman, the remote highway had no lights, it was dark outside so it was probably difficult to see the pipes. There were also two other cars that hit the pipes before the bus hit them. Luckily, no one was hurt in those crashes.

Tour Bus Crash Worse One in a While

It was the worst bus crash since a big-rig truck hit a charter bus carrying high school students last month in northern California. Ten people died in that crash.

According to the report, that truck was operated by VG Transport. According to the safety records VG Transport has not been involved in any crashes for the last two years. The bus was operated by the El Paso-Los Angeles Limousine Express Inc.

Bus Company Owner, President Jerry Rosenbaum statement:

No one has made any allegations about the bus’s maintenance or the bus driver’s actions being contributing factors of this accident.
