Early Morning Monday Big Rig Crash Creates Traffic Mess

Early Morning commuters had a heck of a time trying to make it to work on Monday, June 2, 2014. A crash that ended up having a big rig jackknifed on the south Interstate 15 left the traveling conditions pretty awful if you were in a hurry.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident was reported around 5:10 in the morning. The big rig was left on its side near the south of Carmel Mountain Road.

The police say that there were only minor injuries involved in the big rig crash.

Big Rig Blocks Southbound Lanes

According to the California Highway Patrol, mostly all of the southbound lanes were block until around seven:fifty that morning, that is when three lanes were able to be cleared off. The HOV lanes had stayed open and by eleven o’clock that morning all but one of the right lanes were still closed.

There was a traffic alert issued that morning, trying to warn people to avoid the scene if possible.

According to the report, there was traffic backed up for several miles. The big rig crash had affected the eastbound state Route 78 as well as the Del Dios Highway. The Del Dios Highway had bumper to bumper traffic as the drivers tried to find alternative routes.
